Arik Staropolsky is currently Research Director and Associate at Global Meetings and Tourism Specialists, in Mexico City, Mexico.
Fifteen years of experience in the tourism industry. Specialized in research, planning, knowledge generation and information and improving decision making processes. Worked as CEO of the Center for Advanced Studies in Tourism (CESTUR), the research area of the Federal Ministry of Tourism.
Arik was Information Manager, Senior Research Director and Commercial Intelligence Director for USA and Canada at the Mexico Tourism Board. Previusly was Advisor to the secretary of the former Secretary of Touristic Promotion from the Ministry of Tourism.
Among the main professional achievements is the design and implemention of the Integral System for Information on Tourism Markets (SIIMT – www.siimt.com) at the Mexico Tourism Board as well as the Research Fund for Research in Tourism Conacyt-Sectur (National Council for Science and Technology – Ministry of Tourism -www.fondosectorial.sectur.gob.mx)
Member of the Non-Permanent Specialized Committee for Tourism of the Organization of American States (OAS), member of the Scientific Committee of the Knowledge Network at the World Tourism Organization. Lecturer in both national and international forums. Holds a Master’s degree in Political Science at the University of London, UK, and a Bachelor in Economics and postgraduate studies in market research at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).
